Most of the published (web or otherwise) information (documentation, etc.) about accessing and using Echolink is accurate, but quite technical, and seems to overlook the practical needs, knowledge gaps, and abilities of newbies (like me). Lafreniere anticipates these basic questions (and more) and answers them, and does so very clearly. Whether one uses SignaLink, Rigblaster, or some comparable produce, there's lots of good, easy to follow, information and instruction. One major criticism of this guide is the lack of an index, which I consider to be essential for a book on a topic like this. Another criticism is that there seems to be too much emphasis on using EchoLink with Windows XP, and Vista, and comparatively little focusing on Windows 7, which ships with the majority of new PCs.

Nifty EZ Guide to EchoLink Operation Bernie Lafreniere N6FN 9781456302061 Books Reviews
This is just what I was looking for to start using PSK31. I am from the older days of AMTOR with a AEA interface running AMTOR and RTTY and I want to go digital now with PSK31 and this guide looks like it will help me understand it.
Thanks for a great book!
This book is well written although very basic and a couple of years behind the curve in terms of software. The first couple of chapters do a good job of explaining how Phased Shift Keying came to be and its theory. The latter portions deal with actual operation, interfacing, and software support. That material is quite dated.
Nice guide, makes it easy to ramp up on echo link protocal
Makes it simple to get going on echo link, and good reference on the subject.
Its in my go bag, in truck as well as on my ham book shelf.
Well written, and concise.
I found this book to answer a lot of questions about psk 31 that as a beginner I had. It deals mainly with Digipan which is the software many beginners choose. Tells the reader how to configure the software and what is going on.
Only con is it does not give you much information "if things dont work". Overall it is worth the price to new comers to the mode.
I have read this book on the operation of the EchoLink system. The manual goes into the operation of EchoLink, concerning Amateur Radio. The book has several station set up scenarios that you can use for your station operations.
It is also easy to read and understand.
Book was damaged! Did not appear to be damaged by the shipper but must have come off the shelf with this damage. It is usable with good information. Four stars because of damage.
This guide is old and out of date. Constant references to Windows 95 make it useless in today's world. It also only focuses on Digipan and does not provide an up to date list of other available software. For the money, I could have gotten something that will be used for something other than recycling. Very disappointed. If you want to understand PSK 31, go to the internet and save your hard earned money.
